EDI Commitment:
Electronic Data Interchange is a part of the Swift & Company® strategic initiative and is the enabling technology that supports Just-In-Time and Quick Response business practices. Swift & Company® is actively involved in re-engineering our business processes to improve customer satisfaction by eliminating data keying errors, eliminating redundancy, lowering costs, and increasing the accuracy, timeliness and efficiency of product delivery. A principal feature of business process re-engineering is the elimination of paper-based processes. The elimination of paper can only be achieved through EDI.

What is EDI?
EDI is the exchange of business documents between computer systems in a standard format. Business documents can include any transaction currently sent between companies on paper. Standards supported by Swift & Company® include the American

National Standards Institute (ANSI), Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 format and the Uniform Communication Standard (UCS) format.

EDI Benefits:
The benefits of implementing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) fall under three general categories: business efficiency, improved timeliness and real cost savings.

How EDI Works:
The most effective implementation of EDI is through a Value Added Network (VAN).

The VAN acts as an electronic mailbox – which frees your company to send or receive according to the business and technical timeliness of your company rather than transmitting only within a predetermined processing window. The VAN is equipped to exchange data with all companies, which eliminates the need for you to resolve communication hassles associated with different computer systems and communications protocols. The VAN truly offers 'value added' services such as retransmission of data, sender/receiver status information, and management of audit related reporting.

Standard Format:
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 and the Uniform Communications Standard (UCS) formats are supported by Swift & Company. EDI standards offer broadly understood sets of transactions that provide the liberty to tailor the data content to your business needs. Also, it is simple to support multiple versions of the EDI standard format, allowing either of us to seamlessly migrate to new releases when necessary, without effecting the trading relationships with our other trading partners.
